Peter Bailey: Press

At first glance, one would think that I'm becoming a soft touch. I've had a string of really good CDs to review. Looking back, I feel a little better knowing that they were all different musical styles. And God Never Sleeps from 4N continues the trend with solid Christian rock/pop.

The CD opens with the title cut, God Never Sleeps. The vocals, for the most part, reminded me of Jethro Tull, ala Bungle In The Jungle, over music that was reminiscent of earlier Petra but with a little more intricacy.

Holiday in Rome was a bit mellower and brought to mind bands like Toy Matinee. Heaven Speak brings us to Silence of Your Heart, which is mostly mellow-ish pop until it breaks into these hard rocking spots. It's absolutely infectious! One Degree of Separation was not unlike the music on Holy Soldier's Promise Man release. Not quite as heavy but it had the distinct Smashing Pumpkins feel. Land Of The Lost, a heavy rocker brings us to My God, a very Carmen-like cut throughout.

Heaven Sweet returned to that Jethro Tull-like sound. Now & Ever alternated between verses that were reminiscent of ballad-like 80's pop/rock bands (like ABC and Modern English) and a more swing-ish bubblegum pop chorus. River Of Love closes the CD returning to the heavier Petra sound.. a great closer that leaves you wanting to start the CD over.. the true test of a good closing track on a very enjoyable CD.

The production on the CD was good. There was nothing on the CD that left me thinking that I'd change it. The musicianship was at least good and, at times, excellent. I was particularly captured by much of the guitar work.. often just the right runs in just the right places to compliment the rest of the music. Overall, it's a really good CD and I can easily recommend it.

Re: Events & Entertainment - Gospel Music Week 2003

I want to personally thank you Peter and your band 4N for your participation in this year’s Gospel Music Week events and entertainment. Our goal was to provide all genres of music for entertainment and ministry to artists, industry professionals and fans alike while in Nashville for Gospel Music Week. Thank you for helping make this event a success. Your two performances at Tommy Boys Unplugged provided an exciting, yet spiritual atmosphere for those who came to eat and those who came to listen. Kelly specifically praised your band for being on time and prepared to perform. With so many bands performing on a tight schedule, your promptness and professionalism helped us move seamlessly through the 3 days.

Mare is doing an excellent job managing you guys. I was very impressed with her promotions and your ability to attract your own fans and listeners. We look forward to next year and pray that your schedule will allow you to participate.

I will continue to follow 4N. With your leadership and participation, I am sure I’ll be hearing about you on a national level very soon. Thanks again for your participation this year and in the past with Faith Declarations. You helped me keep the dream alive! Let me know if there is ever anything I can do for you.

Love Deborah
"God Never Sleeps" Wow! Talk about a clever vocal styling, dance pop with a hint of electronica. 4N delivers a message with palatable tastefulness.
